MBC Ceramics: Wheel thrown domestic stoneware made in Tyne and Wear

As well as making pots I offer individual and group tuition sessions. I can provide tuition either from my workshop at home or remotely in community spaces and schools. I specialise in wheel-thrown pottery, but I also offer tuition in sculpture and hand building and glazing techniques.

One to one and small group sessions are perfect for anyone who wants a skills booster, or for groups who want to try something different. Likewise, they are very popular amongst people who’ve never tried pottery and just want to give it a go. These sessions are also a great way to get together for birthdays, or with friends to spend an afternoon doing something different. Sessions are available as one-offs or as longer programmes to suit what you’re after. I am experienced in leading groups of adults and children. I have an enhanced CRB disclosure certificate and comprehensive public liability insurance.

One to one tuition is priced from £25 an hour (minimum session length = 2 hours). I can cater for up to five people at any one time for sessions delivered at my workshop, and for groups of up to twenty if I come to you. All clay and glazes are supplied, and I am happy to arrange to take away work, fire it and return it to you too as part of a package cost. I can (and do!) deliver group sessions across the North East and as far as North Yorkshire. Group sessions are also priced very reasonably – please email mark@mbcceramics.com  for more information or with your requirements and I will be happy to quote a price.

In addition, I often lead adult education workshops across the region through local councils and arts spaces. Many of these workshops are part-funded, so course costs are subsidised for students. Please ‘Like’ my Facebook page for updates on latest courses, and availability. If you’re not on Facebook please feel free to email me at mark@mbcceramics.com and I will be happy to send you details of courses I am currently leading in the region.
